Domtar Announces Permanent Closure of Crofton Pulp Mill in Canada

Author:Haina Machinery Factory FROM:Diaper Machinery Manufacturer TIME:2025-12-11

On December 2, Domtar announced the permanent closure of its production facility in Crofton, British Columbia, Canada. This shutdown will result in a reduction of approximately 380,000 tons per annum (t/a) of Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft (NBSK) pulp capacity for Domtar.

Domtar stated that the primary reasons for the Crofton mill closure are persistently low pulp prices and high raw material costs in British Columbia. Following the closure, the company's remaining production facilities in British Columbia will continue operations while collaborating with stakeholders to improve raw material supply.
